A several film festivals around the world........David will be starring HASS (La Haine) Play in Multiple Stations / Vienna / WORLD PREMIERE
Based on the film La Haine by Mathieu Kassovitz
Adapted by Volker SchmidtThe play will in part be performed in the open, irrespective of weather conditions. Spectators may arrive and depart from the performance venue exclusively by bus. Seating is not always available during the performance.
The new space company dramatises the French cult film La Haine for a group of international actors and young migrants. Hate is a site specific promenade performance using break dance, rap, graffiti and comic as its vocabulary to tell a story of exclusion.
Hate – La Haine is considered a milestone of 1990s French cinema. The film focuses on a single day in the lives of three young friends in an impoverished French suburb, in the aftermath of a riot involving a clash with the police. Volker Schmidt adapts the plot for the Leopoldau Gasworks, an abandoned industrial site at the urban periphery of Vienna. The French banlieue becomes an imaginary suburb, a no-man’s-land at the margins of an unspecified European metropolis. With an international ensemble composed of multilingual performers and young people with migration background, the director tells his story as a play split up into several stations, a tour through the lebensraum of the marginalised and deprived, always on the run from the police. Breakdancing, rap, graffiti, comics and satire are their vocabulary to give voice to their impotence. After komA, which won the 2008 Nestroy Prize for best off-production, new space company present another theatre experience of great immediacy in an unusual location.

David will be playing in a stage play called LÖCHER (HOLES) at THEATER DER JUGEND; RENAISSANCE THEATER Directed by GERALD M. BAUER, Starring Matthias Mamedof. The EUROPEAN PREMIERE LÖCHER (HOLES) IS ON THE 3rd APRIL 2008.
Stanley Yelnats was given a choice. The judge said, "You may go to jail, or you may go to Camp Green Lake." Stanley was from a poor family. He had never been to camp before.
And so, Stanley Yelnats seems set to serve an easy sentence, which is only fair because he is as innocent as you or me. But Stanley is not going where he thinks he is. Camp Green Lake is like no other camp anywhere. It is a bizarre, almost otherworldly place that has no lake and nothing that is green. Nor is it a camp, at least not the kind of camp kids look forward to in the summertime. It is a place that once held "the largest lake in Texas," but today it is only a scorching desert wasteland, dotted with countless holes dug by the boys who live at the camp.
The trouble started when Stanley was accused of stealing a pair of shoes donated by basketball great Clyde "Sweetfeet" Livingston to a celebrity auction. In court, the judge doesn't believe Stanley's claim that the shoes fell from the sky onto his head. And yet, that's exactly what happened. Oddly, though, Stanley doesn't blame the judge for falsely convicting him. Instead, he blames the whole misadventure on his "no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather."
Thanks to this benighted distant relative, the Yelnats family had been cursed for generations. For Stanley, his current troubles are just a natural part of being a Yelnats.
At Camp Green Lake, the warden makes the boys "build character" by spending all day, every day, digging holes: five feet wide and five feet deep. It doesn't take long for Stanley to realize there's more than character improvement going on at Camp Green Lake. The boys are digging holes because the treacherous warden is searching for something, and before long Stanley begins his own search?for the truth.
Fate conspires to resolve it all?the family curse, the mystery of the holes, the drought that destroyed Green Lake, and also, the legend of Kissing Kate Barlow, an infamous outlaw of the Wild West. The great wheel of justice has ground slowly for generations, but now it is about to reveal its verdict.

David will be playing in ´HOW LIFE HAPPENS´ a film by SAMI KHAN for DARK MATTER FILMS in Manchester UK at the beginning of JANUARY 2007:
´HOW LIFE HAPPENS´ tells the story of a young African refugee, Kosey, and his experiences in trying to find a place for himself in his new surroundings. The film deals with issues such as identity, acceptance and poverty. Kosey is a 10-year-old child. His life is shattered when his father is taken by paramilitary forces from his home in East Africa. Kosey and his mother find themselves on the edges of a new emerging city of prosperity and wealth. They have a new life to begin, and for the young Kosey there are universal parallels that take him all the way back to Africa. The film revolves around a fable, that Kosey´s father has told him. Even though Kosey is unaware, the actions of his life mimic those told to him by his father. Henceforth the film takes on the form of a father narrating an ancient tale to his son and unbeknown to him, the son then living through that same story while on his own journey.
